The Perfect Spring and Summer Drink

Something about iced tea and lemonade just makes me feel happy. It's sunny, bright, clean flavors taste so wonderful on crisp spring and summer evenings when I'm sitting on my porch. I make this tea and lemonade drink pretty much every week, and keep it in the fridge to quick sipping throughout the week. It is delicious takes seconds to make. If you're looking for something with a little kick to it, add 1 shot each of lemon vodka and honey bourbon to a tall glass of this drink. So versatile, delicious and summery - everything I look for in a drink!

Ingredients

4 c water
4 bags of ginger peach (or other black) tea
3 tbsp honey
1 1/2 tbsp sugar
1 lemon, quartered
8-10 leaves of basil
4-5 sprigs of mint (about double the amount of basil)
4 c lemonade (I use Simply Lemonade)

Directions

bring water to a boil
while water is on stove, quarter lemon and rinse herbs
place lemon and herbs at the bottom of a 64 ounce pitcher with honey and sugar
pour boiling water into pitcher and add tea bags
let steep for 5-10 minutes (depending on how strong you like the tea)
top with lemonade
chill in refrigerator
serve

I love iced tea in the summer especially sun tea.

Being the northerner I am I never got into sweet teas though. run away run away.

I had my first iced tea of the year two days ago. I love spring! This does look like the perfect spring or summer drink, but with a shot of vodka and bourbon, I'd be under the table, so I'll stick with the tea and lemonade. :)

I love "Arnold Palmer's" but especially love how you kicked it with interesting herbs and teas. And vodka's always a lovely addition ;-)

Yum! I love the addition of mint and basil. I remember my first arnold palmer -- I didn't know what to think! But now I love 'em!

Ooh yummy! And the sun is shining today, just in time. I'll take a double. With the booze, of course.

Heather, this tea sounds fabulous!! I love your use of ginger peach tea, and oh, that basil and mint must make it taste so fresh! I'm totally going to need to make a pitcher of this ASAP.

Heather, I could drink a whole pitcher of that yum. I can't wait for summer...sitting on my deck, watching the sunset with a glass of this in my hand...

I had a hectic week last week too! Yours sounds more gratifying.

This sounds wonderful, and I love the idea of making a pitcher every week to keep in the frig.

What brand of tea do you like to use? I just made a big jug of sun tea using 2 bags of Tazos. I find that Tazo is especially concentrated and that 2 bags is sufficient, but of course, this is all my personal preference.

If you like drinks like this you should try Watermelon, Lime & Rosemary drink I made a while ago, my boys did not enjoy it, not sweet enough, but I love it:

I've already commented on this, but just wanted to let you know that I made it for some company we had and it was a hit! The only thing I changed was I used a lime instead of lemon (just didn't have one handy) and added a little fresh ginger. YUM!
