Sugar High Fridays - April 2009: Take Me Away

Hi All

As you all know, I was the April 2009 host of Sugar High Fridays, created by Jennifer at The Domestic Goddess. Here's the roundup! The theme was desserts inspired by your favorite travel destinations! There were some wonderful, delicious entries, and I enjoyed reading them on all of your blogs!

First up is Kerstin's Caramelized Plaintain Quesadillas. Kerstin write the delicious blog Cake, Batter and Bowl. The recipe for these was inspired by Kerstin's trip to the Caribbean. I think they look amazingly delicious - especially with her strawberry salsa!

Elissa from 17 and Baking created a simple and rustic pear tart inspired by her trip to Paris. This tart sounds just as good as a day at the Lourve to me!

Muneeba from An Edible Symphony whipped up a delicious, delightful blood orange yogurt cake reminiscent of her trip to Catalina Island, CA. Her post was sunny, delicious and made me want to get on a plane right away.

Next up we have Aoife from The Daily Spud. Aoife made a delicious apple crumble that took her back to her days trekking in Nepal. This submission both made me drool and want to go on vacation with Aoife! She's my kind of adventurous gal :)

Renato from Sugar Nut made Dulce de Leche to transport her back to a small town in Brazil named Minas Gerais. I've never been to Portugal, but I want to go now!

Valerie from Don't Forget Delicious made Sticky Toffee Pudding that reminded her of her trip to London, England. I adore England and have had a lot of toffee there, so I can understand why Valerie was so excited to make this!

Kitty from Farenheit 350 made Sagin Na Matamis which sounds sort of like banana crepes. I don't know what I enjoyed more from this post - the recipe, or Kitty's beautiful pictures from the Philippeans.

What a great series of delectable dishes and travel experiences! They really spanned the globe and really underscores how food bloggers can take us to distant lands and cultures without getting on a plane.

Queen Bitty demands the apple crumble and dulce de leche. Hand them over, she says--and no one will get hurt.

Wonderful roundup! All desserts look excellent! I'm sorry that I didn't get to participate, unfortunately was too busy writing about the travel itself :)
